Starting under the historic temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Egyptian Marathon has been held regularly over the past 31 years proving to be the oldest ongoing marathon in Africa and the Middle East. With the marathon route going through multiple ancient locations such as the temple of Habou, temple of Amenophis. the Colossi of Memnon and much more, the Egyptian Marathon promises to be an unforgettable experience inspired by pharaonic tradition, offering runners the opportunity to choose from four ammazing distances: 5K, 12K, 22K & Marathon (AIMS measure).

Thursday, Jan 09th – EXPO DAY
Runners will be able to pick up their race pack at the Official Hotel Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa Hotel Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa,

04:00 – 08:00 pm: Race pack pick up

 Fraiday, Jan 10th – RACE DAY

  • 06:00 am: Arrival at Hatshepsut Temple.
  • 06:45 am: Warm-Up and Final Announcements. Runners head to the Start Line.
  • 07:00 am: All Races Begin.
  • 11:30 am: Awards Ceremony in front of Hatshepsut Temple.

The Egyptian Marathon is open to all runners, regardless of ability. There is no entrance criteria or qualification necessary for registration. The minimum age for the 5K race is 8 years, for the 12K race is 10 years, for the 22k race is 16 years and for the Marathon distance is 21 years old. Age is calculated based on year of birth.

the Egyptian Marathon will be organised in accordance with international standards and the rules and regulations set forth by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the Egyptian Athletics Federation, and the Race Organiser. Doping controls will be regulated by the relevant authorities and the Race Organiser reserves the right to request random drug testing of any athlete at the event.

As with many major races around the world, the Egyptian Marathon, 5K, 12K and 22K will apply a cut-off time of 4 hours from the start time.
And the Marathon distance will apply a cut-off time of 6 hours from the start time in order to maintain the level of competition for each distance and due to the inability to block off the roads indefinitely while runners complete their race.

Every the Egyptian Marathon, 5K, 12K, 22K and the Marathon participant, receives a finisher’s medal upon successful completion of their race. Rankings will be organised in overall and age group categories. Overall winners (top three males and top three females for each distance) will receive special prizes.

1. Payment of tickets can be made online.
2. Ticket Cancellation: Ticket holders can cancel their tickets before the General Registration Deadline and receive the full amount paid.
3. Following the General Registration Deadline, no changes or cancellations will be possible, regardless of personal or medical circumstances, including COVID-19 or otherwise. A full refund will only be allowed in the event that a government-declared lockdown is enforced and the race is cancelled or postponed.
4. Tickets cannot be transferred/resold to other participants under any circumstances. At the Expo/Race Pack Pick-Up, participants must present a valid photo ID that matches their ticket, in order to receive their Race Pack Pick-Up.
7. Ticket fees do not include Value Added Tax (14% VAT).
